বাক্যের প্রথম অংশ Past Continuous (waited/argued) প্রেক্ষাপটে থাকায় ‘While’ যুক্ত অংশটিও চলমান অতীত বা Past Continuous হওয়া যুক্তিযুক্ত। ‘While’ সাধারণত দুটি সমসাময়িক চলমান কাজকে যুক্ত করে।
১. ‘discusses’ বর্তমান কাল হওয়ায় এটি অতীতের ঘটনার সাথে সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ নয়।
২. ‘discussed’ কেবল সাধারণ অতীত বোঝায়, কিন্তু ‘While’ এর সাথে সাধারণত Continuous tense বেশি মানানসই।
৩. ‘had discussed’ অতীতেরও অতীত বোঝায় যা এখানে অপ্রাসঙ্গিক।
অতিরিক্ত তথ্য: While-এর পর সরাসরি verb থাকলে তার সাথে -ing যুক্ত হয় (যেমন: While walking)।
